Effective 1 November 2015, plastics recycler Van Werven (Oldebroek / The Netherlands; www.vanwerven.nl) opened a new location in Lanaken / Belgium. It is precisely two years after the opening of the first Belgian site in Antwerp. After many years of successful plastics recycling in The Netherlands, Van Werven is expanding its activities, also in Europe.
The activities in Lanaken will focus on the pre-sorting of waste plastics. Subsequently, these plastics are recycled in Biddinghuizen to produce a valuable reusable raw material for use in the European plastics industry. For recyclers, Lanaken is situated at a logistically favourable position for the east of Flanders and Wallonia, the southern part of Limburg and part of Germany, the company said. The new site in Lanaken will provide employment for ten people.
Van Werven has been investing for many years in something that did not exist before: sorting and recycling residual plastics from building waste and waste collection points to produce high-quality recyclate. This is the result of its pressure to seek genuine and unique solutions. The plastic recycling activities have been rewarded on several occasions with innovation awards in The Netherlands and Europe.
