US distributor Univar Solutions (Downers Grove, Illinois; www.univarsolutions.com) has been appointed the exclusive distributor for select BASF speciality ingredients across the US and Canada – expanding the partnership between the two companies in the industrial chemicals sector.

The agreement, announced in mid-August, covers key BASF products including Caprome, 1,6-Hexanediol (HDO) in molten and flake form, and epsilon-caprolactone. These ingredients are used across a range of industrial and manufacturing applications, including polymers, plastics, coatings, and adhesives, where they contribute to durability, flexibility, and weather resistance.

The distribution deal is to be managed by Univar Solutions USA and its Canadian affiliate Univar Solutions Canada as part of the company’s Ingredients + Specialties division.

HDO, one of the key materials in the agreement, is used in low-VOC industrial coatings, polyurethane formulations, and epoxy systems for rotor blades and lightweight automotive components.

Executives from both companies highlighted the importance of the deal in helping customers respond to technical and regulatory demands in key sectors.
