ULTRAPOLYMERS
Polymers for cast films added to range
Polymer distributor Ultrapolymers (Beerse / Belgium; www.ultrapolymers.com) has extended its range of polyolefins for the production of cast films and thermoforming with the addition of three products manufactured by LyondellBasell (Rotterdam / The Netherlands; www.lyondellbasell.com) that enable processors to achieve superior brilliance and transparency, low-temperature impact strength and stiffness.
“Clyrell RC1908” is a random PP copolymer that contains no lubricants or anti-blocking agents and combines high flexibility with a balance of transparency and toughness. Films made from the material are suitable for food contact and provide superior brilliance.
“Moplen EP310K” is a medium-viscosity heterophasic PP copolymer that produces films with a very low gel content, good hot-sealing properties, and a combination of toughness (even at low temperatures), strength, stiffness, easy processability, and low susceptibility to stress whitening. The material contains no lubricants or anti-blocking additives and is suitable for food contact.
“Adstif HA740J” is a nucleated highly crystalline PP for extrusion and thermoforming applications that provides high stiffness (1,900 MPa) and increased toughness. Even in high regrind concentrations, the material ensures a high-grade visual finish for both transparent and opaque films, the distributor says. Its mechanical properties allow weight reductions through downgauging and it is suitable for applications calling for increased high-temperature stability.
