Launching new PA packaging grade at “K 2016” fair / Reduced risk of retort shock
Polyamide specialist Ube Industries (Tokyo / Japan; www.ube.com) will be presenting a new grade at the upcoming “K” fair (www.k-online.de), held in Düsseldorf / Germany from 19-26 October. “Ube Nylon 5033FD8” reduces the risk of “retort shock” and also optimises the external appearance of the packaging, the company said.

Ube said the material is particularly useful in countries where retort is the preferred means of autoclave sterilisation and where a stable cold chain cannot be guaranteed. To minimise the risk of air penetration – which would damage the product – Ube Nylon 5033FD8 helps stabilise the film structure.

Ube’s PA family is designed for use in film and blown film extrusion. In addition to what the group called “outstanding” resistance to heat, oils, solvents and chemicals, the grades also stop the ingress of oxygen, making them particularly suitable for film used to package food.
