Swedish filmmaker announces US production / Plant to come online in autumn

In order to meet growing demand from US customers, Swedish film producer Trioworld (Smålandsstenar; www.trioworld.com) has announced a new facility in Brownsburg, Indiana, set to come onstream in autumn 2025. The plant is expected to “eventually double” the company’s North American production capacity and create 33 jobs. Trioworld did not provide information on the sum invested in the construction.

The Swedish filmmaker operated another plant in Ajax, Ontario, Canada, which was acquired with the takeover of Malpack in 2023. Output of that site is also not known, though Malpack reported annual sales of around EUR 240 mn at the time of the acquisition.
Trioworld noted that the Brownsburg facility is “equipped with cutting-edge technology and sustainable production practices”. Plans are for the site to function as an innovation and efficiency hub as well.

The film producer at the same time said it has founded a joint venture with Indian stretch film maker Filmtec (Valsad, Gujarat; www.filmtec.in).
“This joint venture is a strategic step in our global expansion, enabling us to tap into the rapidly growing Indian market,” said Trioworld CEO Andreas Malmberg. The company added that the move allows it to broaden its distribution in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

The Swedish firm has been part of compatriot private equity group Altor since 2018. It employs around 1,800 people at 17 production and recycling sites in Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Germany, the UK, and Canada. Annual sales amount to around EUR 1 bn.
