Italy's “Ipack-Ima” moved to 2022 / “Plast” to take place next year as planned

The uncertainties caused by the coronavirus pandemic have prompted the organisers of “Ipack-Ima” (www.ipackima.com) to postpone the Italian packaging trade fair. Originally scheduled to take place in Milan from 4-7 May 2021, it will now be held from 3-6 May 2022. Ipack-Ima CEO Rossano Bozzi said the decision to reschedule the show was not easy. “But after careful evaluations and insights we preferred to give priority to the needs of our exhibitors and visitors who are currently engaged, and we expect they are still for many months, in the management of a very tricky period.”
In the current uncertain times for events, in which it is becoming increasingly likely that “Fakuma” – previously on shaky grounds – will be held in October 2020 (see Plasteurope.com of 30.06.2020), the coronavirus-related postponement of the Italian packaging trade fair to 2022 comes as a surprise. Industry experts assume that the proximity in time to the world’s most important packaging trade show “Interpack” in spring 2021 (see Plasteurope.com of 17.03.2020) could have been a deciding factor.
The next edition of “Plast” (www.plastonline.org) in 2021 is unaffected by the postponement. In 2018, the triennial Italian plastics trade fair took place in parallel with Ipack-Ima, as did “Meat-Tech”, which focuses on food processing, the printing trade event “Print4All” and “Intralogistica Italia” (see Plasteurope.com of 30.05.2018). Plast is organised by Italian plastics machinery industry association Amaplast (Milan; www.amaplast.org) and scheduled to take place in Milan as planned from 4-7 May 2021.
There are, however, new dates for “Meat-Tech” (17-20 May 2021), “Intralogistica Italia” and “Print4All”. The latter two will take place in parallel with Ipack-Ima in 2022. The postponement of the Italian printing trade fair is also sensible in that it will then not be held in the same year as the world’s largest printing trade fair “Drupa” in Düsseldorf / Germany.
