New "Vectra" LCP for hearing aids
Medical technology manufacturers are designing smaller and smaller hearing aids for their customers. With this miniaturisation in mind, Siemens is now using a special grade – "E820i LDS" – of the high-tech LCP polymer "Vectra" from Ticona (Kelsterbach / Germany; www.ticona.com) for its new range of "Acuris" hearing aids. Accommodation of the complex technical system in the small hearing aid is made possible by the laser direct structuring of the material, says the company. The liquid crystal polymer permits thin wall thicknesses and selective metallisation.
