TESSENDERLO
Subsidiary Eurocell acquires former Plastmo Profiles in the UK
Eurocell Profiles (Alfreton / UK; www.eurocell.co.uk), a subsidiary of PVC compounding and profiles extrusion specialist Tessenderlo (Brussels / Belgium; www.tessenderlo.com), has acquired the small UK profile producer Sprinter 1233, formerly Plastmo Profiles (Northampton), which was spun off from the Plastmo group through an MBO in mid-2003. Sales are now around GBP 22m (EUR 27.5m). Four years ago, Plastmo Profiles had 450 employees and sales of around EUR 70m. The acquisition will increase Eurocell’s sales to around GBP 140m. Eurocell produces PVC sheet as well as door and window profiles – see Plasteurope.com of 02.06.2004.
Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed but, according to a spokesperson for Tessenderlo, the deal includes all equipment, the brand name and a five-year supply agreement with Safestyle (Bradford / UK; www.safestyle-windows.co.uk), one of the largest British manufacturers of window profiles, which appears to be the principal reason for the acquisition.
