TARKETT SOMMER
Floor coverings merger completed / European management team in place
The mega merger between Sommer Allibert SA (2 rue de l' Egalite, F-92478 Nanterre) and Tarkett AG (D-67222 Frankenthal) has been legally completed (See Plasteurope.com No. 22). At the same time, the Sommer Allibert group has acquired a majority stake in Tarkett. The management team of the future Tarkett Sommer is now in place.
European chief will be Dr. Hans-Günter Scholz (49), up to now managing board member at Tarkett AG with responsibility for European production activities. Bernhard Jannsens (52) has been named head of marketing and distribution for Europe, a key position he also held at Sommer. Rene Bomboire (56), Sommer's European production chief, will have responsibility in future for Tarkett-Sommer's largest production segment, Elastic Floor Coverings Europe. Göran Enocsen (56) will retain responsibility for wooden floorings, and Bruno Ribault (57) will continue to be in charge of the Sommer textile segment, while Per Ericsson (46) will remain head of logistics.
Plans call for Jannsens and Bomboire to be appointed to the Tarkett Sommer managing board at the beginning of 1998 when the supervisory board is in place. Lars Wissen (53), will continue as chairman, Christer Hiller (52) deputy chairman. Hans-Günther Scholz will remain on the board, while Margrit Wieduwilt (44), Tarkett's managing board member responsible for distribution and marketing in Europe, has resigned with effect from the end of 1997. Tarkett Sommer AG will have its headquarters at Frankenthal.
