Plastics consumption rises to 163,000 t in 2004
The consolidation of the plastics processing industry has not left Switzerland untouched. In the country´s injection moulding sector, some 300 companies processed 124,000 t of plastics in 1999; by 2004 the figure had risen to 163,000 t, with only 270 companies still in business. The figures contained in a recent report by the market research group Applied Market Information Ltd. (AMI, GB-Bristol BS1 3QP; www.amiplastics.com) show that this market is seeing growth rates of around 1% annually. With Switzerland´s total thermoplastics consumption at 586,000 t in 2004, the share represented by injection moulding was 28%.

AMI´s latest directory lists the 270 injection moulding companies according to type of plastics processed and markets supplied, capacity for each production site, other services, addresses, telephone and telefax numbers as well as e-mail address with management contact, plastics consumption per company and ownership.
