Gerd Liebig appointed CEO-designate of German injection moulding machinery maker

Gerd Liebig has been appointed the CEO-designate of injection moulding machinery maker Sumitomo (SHI) Demag (Schwaig / Germany; www.sumitomo-shi-demag.eu), due to replace incumbent Tetsuya Okamura on 1 January 2017. The latter first assumed the position of chief executive in 2008 and will now take on a new role at parent company Sumitomo Heavy Industries.
Liebig worked at Sumitomo Demag predecessor Demag Plastics Group from 1990 to 2005, and then switched to competitor Engel Austria (Schwertberg / Austria; www.engelglobal.com), where he held the position of group marketing director. He rejoined the German group in 2015, and has since served as CSO.
