With testing and qualification runs completed, and the first products already manufactured, French specialist for roofing and sealing sheets Soprema (Strasbourg; www.soprema.com) officially opened a plant for PVC and flexible polyolefin (FPO) roofing and sealing membranes in Hof/Oberroßbach, Germany, in September.
From spring 2026 onwards, the site is to supply all plastic membranes in the portfolio, the company said. PIR insulation materials, liquid plastics, and bitumen waterproofing membranes are also to be manufactured there.

Soprema invested EUR 30 mn in the construction of the new plant, which is to obtain up to 50% of its electricity requirements from its own photovoltaic and wind power systems. However, construction work was delayed – when the announcement was made in 2021, the new capacity was already scheduled to come onstream in the first half of 2024.
