Pira International consultancy acquired from BASF
Researcher and consultant Pira International (Leatherhead, Surrey / UK; www.pira-international.com) has been sold. After BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) had acquired the business in 2009 – as part of its takeover of Ciba Chemicals (see Plasteurope.com of 20.04.2009 213246) – the German group has now sold Pira to the Smithers Group (Akron, Ohio / USA; www.smithers.com).
Pira provides independent, knowledge-based information and testing services – see for example Plasteurope.com of 25.11.2010 – about the packaging, paper and print industry as well as their supply chains. The company employs about 120 workers and operates five facilities in the UK and the US.
