US rigid packaging supplier Silgan Holdings (Stamford, Connecticut; www.silganholdings.com) has completed its acquisition of the dispensing systems business from WestRock (Norcross, Georgia / USA; www.westrock.com). In the course of the USD 1.03 bn (EUR 956m) deal, 13 production plants will change owners, seven of them in Europe (see also Plasteurope.com of 25.01.2017).

The triggers, pumps, sprayers and dispensing closure business generated sales of about USD 570m in 2016. Silgan is expecting cost synergies of USD 15m within the first 24 months. The packaging group with more than 100 production sites in North and South America, Europe and Asia generated revenues of approximately USD 3.6 bn last year.
