German industrial packaging manufacturer Schütz (Selters; www.schuetz.net) has acquired a majority stake in Danish packaging distributor ScanDrums (Søndersø; www.scandrums.dk). Financial details were not disclosed.
ScanDrums operates sites in Søndersø and in Kungsbacka, Sweden, offering a portfolio of IBCs, plastic and steel drums, and carboys. Its range of services also includes the return and reconditioning of used industrial packaging.
The two players have already enjoyed a partnership for several years, with Schütz supplying ScanDrums with IBCs, inner containers, drums, and carboys.
The transaction is being handled by the German company’s Nordic subsidiary, which has a production site in Kongsvinger, Norway. The manufacturer of industrial packaging also has a reconditioning site in Jordbro, Sweden, following the acquisition of the reconditioner All-Emballage in 2023.

The acquisition aims to strengthen the company’s presence in the Scandinavian market, said Erik Platek, general manager of Schütz Nordic. Both ScanDrums sites are to be integrated into the Schütz Nordic unit in the medium term.
