Danish packaging manufacturer files for insolvency / Polish unit continues business as usual
The unit in Poland is all that is left of packaging manufacturer Scanbech (Kokkedal / Denmark). Scanbech Poland (Nowy Tomysl / Poland; www.scanbech.pl) took over most of the tools from Scanbech, a company spokeswoman told PIE.

Before the financial crisis, Scanbech operated three further production sites aside from the one in Poland. The former holding company and Danish subsidiary Scanbech A/S filed for insolvency with a court in Helsingör in April and May. Reports indicate that the Danish facility, as well as a plant in Ghana, have since been closed. The unit in Runcorn / UK already ceased operations a year ago.

Scanbech Poland manufactures the same line of goods as its former sister companies: bottles, closures as well as pumps made of PE, PP, PET and other plastics, earmarked for customers from the cosmetics, food and pharmaceutical businesses. The company employs about 100 workers and operates a sales office in Berlin / Germany. Ahead of filing for insolvency, Scanbech’s workforce numbered 310. Founded in the 1950s by Frank Bech, the company initially acted as a sales agency.
