SAINT-GOBAIN
Acquisition of the Belgian roof reinforcements specialist Wattex
The building materials group Saint-Gobain (Paris / France; www.saint-gobain.com) has taken over Wattex (Buggenhout / Belgium; www.wattex.com) for an undisclosed sum. The Belgian company produces non-woven carrier materials made of glass fibre-reinforced polyester, which are used in bitumen roof linings. Saint-Gobain acquired 100% of the shares of Wattex, which is owned by founding family Baert.

After its takeover of the German reinforcements specialist Kirson (Neustadt; www.kirson.de – see Plasteurope.com of 11.08.2017), Saint-Gobain says this latest acquisition enables it to develop high-performance solutions and expand its existing reinforcement products portfolio for the roofing market.
