SABIC INNOVATIVE PLASTICS
Expansion of polycarbonate sheet production
Sabic Innovative Plastics (SIP, Bergen op Zoom / The Netherlands; www.sabic-ip.com) is to build additional production lines for multi-wall and solid polycarbonate sheet under the "Lexan" brand at its plants in Vienna / Austria, Milan / Italy and Bergen op Zoom. SIP manager Jack Govers said that the expansion is in response to the mounting demand for roofs, signage and structural glazing, especially in eastern Europe and Russia. He did not disclose the size of the investment.
In Vienna, SIP will increase its production of 2100 mm wide "Thermoclear" sheets. In Milan, capacity for sheets for translucent building facades ("Thermoclick") and industrial rooflights ("Thermoroof") will be expanded. In Bergen, additional capacity will be built for solid sheets.
