Three plants acquired from contract compounder Alloy Polymers
US customised thermoplastics compounder RTP (Winona, Minnesota; www.rtpcompany.com) has acquired three US production facilities from contract compounder Alloy Polymers (Richmond, Virginia / USA; www.alloypolymers.com). The deal, financial details of which were not disclosed, comprises the plants in Richmond, Virginia, as well as Crockett and Orange, Texas, and follows RTP’s earlier purchase of Alloy Polymers’ plant in Gahanna, Ohio.
Following the purchase, the group will be run as a wholly owned subsidiary under its existing name, Alloy Polymers, and retain its headquarters. It will be led by RTP executive Peter Ploumidis. “Alloy Polymers will continue to provide high-volume compounding production services for contract manufacturers, and RTP Company will continue developing custom engineered thermoplastic compounds for molders and OEMs,” Ploumidis said about the new structure. The three facilities will boost RTP’s compounding capacity by more than 226,000 t/y, strengthening its “position in the high-volume contract manufacturing sector,” the company said.
RTP has 17 plants in the US, Europe and Asia as well as a range of sales offices throughout the world. The company develops customised thermoplastic compounds used for a range of applications.
