Paint producer Akzo Spain, part of AkzoNobel (Amsterdam / The Netherlands; www.akzonobel.com), has changed from metal to plastic containers for its Spanish paint brands. The company is now using the 1 litre “Paintainer” from packaging specialist RPC Superfos (Taastrup / Denmark; www.superfos.com) on its fast speed filling line for premium brands including “Bruguer” and “Procolor”.
The injection moulded PP containers offer a range of finishing options using in-mould labelling with lacquer providing an improved image for the brands with a large choice of volumes. Painters can open and close the pack without the use of any tool and it makes a reassuring click when closed. The companies said that the market response to the change has been very positive.
