REUNION INDUSTRIES
Sale of Irish plastics moulding subsidiary / Trend Technologies offshoot is buyer
Reunion Industries Inc. (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania / USA) has sold its interest in Irish plastics moulder Data Packaging Ltd. (Clonmore Industrial Estate, Mullingar, County Westmeath) to an Irish subsidiary of Trend Technologies (2185 Old Oakland Rd., San Jose, California/USA), a leading injection moulder and manufacturer of enclosures for computer workstations. Reunion said the sale eliminated around USD 2m of Data Packaging´s debt and preferred stock obligations from its balance sheet. “This was an opportunity to sell the Irish operations at an attractive price,” said Reunion president Kimball Bradley. But he added that the company expects to pursue “growth opportunities in the plastics industry in the US and other markets.”

Through its wholly owned subsidiary ORC Plastics, Reunion manufactures high-volume, precision plastic parts and provides engineered plastics services. Data Packaging, which employs 220 and is 25% Irish owned, has been operating in the country since 1981. The company produces housings for computer monitors and other electronic equipment. Important customers are computer manufacturers Apple and Dell.
