With the acquisition of Pakufol Folienprodukte (Siegelsbach / Germany; www.pakufol.de), German recycler Remondis (Lünen; www.remondis.de) is expanding its vertical integration into LDPE film recycling. The acquisition of Pakufol and its holding and administrative companies, Depner Vermögensverwaltung and Depner Verwaltungs, was part of a share deal with retroactive effect from 1 January 2019. According to Remondis, the portfolio expansion to include LDPE processing represents an important diversification.

“To date, we have globally supplied other LDPE recyclers with used films,” says Ralf Mandelatz, managing director of Remondis Recycling (Essen / Germany; www.remondis-recycling.de). He said the company will in future process this plastic in-house and use it to make film bags from 100% recycled material.

Pakufol is by its own account the leading German manufacturer of waste bags, bin liners and other plastic bags. The products bear the German government’s “Blue Angel” ecolabel and are largely made from recycled scrap films. The company with currently 75 employees in 2015 relocated its headquarters from Sinsheim to nearby Siegelsbach. At the new location, it has an area of almost 100,000 m² at its disposal.

Remondis Recycling also owns recycling companies RE Plano (Lünen; www.replano.com) and Remondis PET Recycling (Essen).
