Expansion of microcable tubes manufacturing in Austria
German plastics processing group Rehau (Rehau; www.rehau.com) has invested EUR 4.5m in the expansion of production at its site in Neulengbach / Austria. A spokesman explained to Plasteurope.com that the funds are mostly for the production of microcable tubes that are used, for example, in the telecommunications sector. The expansion will be completed in 2018, and create 15 to 20 new jobs.
At present, there is a workforce of around 330 employees at the site in Austria, where wood-plastic composites for terrace flooring, gaskets for cooling systems and bumpers for cars are manufactured. Of these employees, 180 work in manufacturing and the rest in distribution and administration for southeastern Europe.
The company will also be extending office space at its site in Bayreuth / Germany, where the polymer specialist employs about 40 automotive engineers and IT specialists. Around 50 more jobs are to be created along with the addition of a new floor, which is planned for early October. Rehau purchased the premises in Bayreuth for on-site future growth.
Rehau employs about 20,000 people worldwide. The company's latest figures showed annual turnover of around EUR 3.4 bn.
