In a statement, Aimplas said the latest recognition built on its existing Recyclass accreditation for assessing plastics used in the packaging segment.
“These validations confirm whether innovations developed by companies are compatible with the appropriate plastics recycling streams, ensuring that they represent sustainable solutions which support the transition of strategic industries towards more circular production models,” it added.
Aimplas holds accreditation from several research, certification, and industry bodies, including TÜV Austria, the EU Ecolabel, and automotive manufacturers such as Volkswagen, Renault, and Daimler.

In June, Aimplas announced it had joined forces with 21 other partners in an EU-funded project to develop and implement biobased, biodegradable, and recyclable food packaging using a range of materials including new PLA copolymers, functional coatings, additives, and green catalysts.
As well as creating testing methods for a range of plastics, RecyClass operates a system that traces the origin of plastics waste, along with the calculation and verification of recycled content in plastic products.
