RECYCLING MARKET FRANCE
Valorplast lowers Q4 redemption price of film bales and bottles significantly

Following its announcement in late September, Valorplast (Puteaux / France; www.valorplast.com) – the plastic packaging warrantor of French recycling organisation Eco-Emballages (www.ecoemballages.fr) – has lowered the redemption price of film bales and bottles. The significant fall in virgin PET notations was the leading cause for the group’s decision to slash the basket price for HDPE, PP and PET bales to EUR 194/t – down from EUR 251/t in Q3.

The rollercoaster movement of prices this year has exposed the difficulties the Valorplast model faces at times of highly volatile virgin material notations. The key French stakeholders are currently debating the validity of the system’s existing structure (see Plasteurope.com of 19.10.2015).
