REACH
First EuPC and Polymer Comply Europe “REACH Workshop” successfully concluded / Follow-up event later this year
Following the success of the recent “REACH Workshop: The Plastics Industry State of Play with practical examples,” held in Brussels / Belgium on 17 and 18 March, organisers Polymer Comply Europe (PCE, Brussels / Belgium; www.polymercomplyeurope.eu) and European Plastics Converters (EuPC, Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticsconverters.eu) are planning a follow-up event in Q4 this year.
The first workshop of its kind, the Brussels event focused on learning from the past challenges that arose from REACH, and participants were presented with practical tools and solutions developed by EuPC to facilitate fulfilment of the chemicals regulation. The event was opened by Geoffrey Tillieux, EuPC technical department director and PCE regulatory compliance director, who said, “In order to be successful and manage raw materials in a strategic way, plastics converters, masterbatchers and their downstream users should early on identify the key substances that may be under scrutiny and should exchange information on their uses and exposure from the onset.”
Topics touched on at the two-day event included orphan substances, the requirements placed on importers and the challenges of recycling applications, among others.
