A subsidiary of Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (Quadrant EPP, Lenzburg / Switzerland; www.quadrantplastics.com) on 1 April entered into an agreement to acquire high performance polymer materials manufacturer Piper Plastics (Libertyville, Illinois / USA; www.piperplastics.com). The deal, financial details of which were not disclosed, is expected to be completed in the coming weeks pending government approval.

Piper Plastics’ three plants – located in Chandler, Arizona and Libertyville, Illinois / USA as well as Rayong / Thailand – will join Quadrant’s Engineering Plastics Products division, expanding the Swiss group’s global footprint. The acquisition is expected to yield significant synergies, Quadrant said. Piper Plastics provides “advanced engineering plastic solutions via unique polymer conversion technologies and precision machined engineering plastic components and assemblies,” and caters to a wide customer range from the medical, semiconductor, aerospace/defence as well as the energy and food packaging industries.
