US launches anti-dumping investigation / Imports from China and India
Instigated by US producer Chemours (Europe: Geneva / Switzerland; www.chemours.com), the US International Trade Commission (ITC, Washington, D.C. / USA; www.usitc.gov) has applied for anti-dumping investigations into polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) originating from China and India. Initial findings are expected by the end of November 2017. US statistics show PTFE imports from the two countries are valued at almost USD 6m (about EUR 5m) in 2017.

Major manufacturers of the high-performance plastic include the Shandong Dongyue Group, which has an annual capacity of 23,000 t, according to Plasteurope.com's Polyglobe database (www.polyglobe.net). Number two in China is the Changshu 3F Zhonghao New Chemical Materials with 10,500 t/y. In India, Gujarat Fluorochemicals is the top producer with 6,000 t/y.
