Cosmetics packaging manufacturer still losing ground / Reorganisation of sales in North America
French plastics processor PSB Industries (Annecy; www.psbindus.com), which specialises in high-quality cosmetics packaging, lost ground in terms of sales once again in the 2019 financial year, with a decline that was even greater than for the previous year. Provisional figures show that revenue totalled EUR 266.2m, three quarters of which was generated in Europe. This is 4.6% down on 2018.

The activities for medicine and industry grouped under the “Plastibell” brand slid considerably further than “Texen”-brand cosmetics packaging. Sales of EUR 183m were generated with the latter, down 1.5% on the previous year. The smaller industry division attained revenues of EUR 84m, a good 7% below the figure for 2018. This decline is also essentially attributable to the crisis in the automotive industry. PSB will only be publishing detailed figures in March 2020.

The company is still in the throes of restructuring, having sold its thermoforming division CGL Pack to Faerch (Holstebro / Denmark; www.faerch.com) in 2018 in order to raise funds for the expansion of the other two divisions – see Plasteurope.com of 11.05.2018. In 2019, the Texen division reorganised its sales activities in North America and also placed greater focus on sustainable cosmetics packaging for products including mascara.
