After various acquisitions and the merger with Prolamina (Westfield, Massachusetts / USA) in 2015, Ampac Flexibles unified its branding as of 1 December 2017, under the name ProAmpac (Cincinnati, Ohio / USA; www.proampac.com). The official company name will, however, remain unchanged, according to a spokesman for the group, which has European branches in Eberdingen / Germany, Kirchberg / Switzerland, and Melbourn / UK.

In 2011, the US packaging group acquired flexible packaging producer Elag Verpackungen (Kirchberg / Switzerland) – see Plasteurope.com of 05.07.2011, and in 2015, the company was taken over by Wellspring Capital (New York / USA; www.wellspringcapital.com). Immediately afterwards, it was merged with Prolamina – see Plasteurope.com of 25.08.2015.

Several acquisitions in the US followed in 2016 and 2017. In October 2016, for example, Ampac acquired Vitex Packaging Group in Suffolk, Virginia. Then, in August 2017, came the takeover of Clondalkin Flexible Packaging based in Orlando, Florida and, in September 2017, PolyFirst Packaging in the US state of Wisconsin. The brand names Ampac, Prolamina, Vitex, Clondalkin and Poly First will now be replaced, said the company.

The group has a total of 25 production sites in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Cambodia and Vietnam. It claims to supply 5,000 customers in 90 countries and has a workforce of 3,000. The traditional fields of flexible consumer and commercial packaging have been extended as a result of the above-mentioned acquisitions, for example with large-format lawn and garden bags, as well as coffee and tea packs.
