POLYTEC
Austrian group said to be planning new facility in UK / Response to several contracts from key automotive producers
High-quality injection moulded plastics parts producer Polytec (Hörsching / Austria; www.polytec-group.com) is reportedly planning to establish an additional manufacturing plant in Telford / UK. Located about 50 km northwest of Birmingham, the facility will be constructed in three phases, local news sources report, adding that initially, Polytec intends to build a new paint plant and assembly hall, which are to be followed by a manufacturing facility and, in a third stage, another assembly hall.
Newspaper reports allege that planning permission for the site has already been submitted. In response to a Plasteurope.com query, however, a company spokeswoman said it is much too early to comment on the plans, saying Polytec itself has not issued any information in this respect. She did not deny the reports either.
Local reports do not indicate a timeline or an investment cost for the project. However, the new site is said to be the result of several major contracts awarded to Polytec by leading vehicle manufacturers, which the company is unable to meet from its existing UK facility in Bromyard, about 70 km south of Telford.
