POLYTEC GROUP
Expansion course continues / New site planned for the east of Germany this year
Polytec Holding AG (A-4063 Hörsching; www.polytec-group.com) has set its target: the company wants to become an indispensable tier-1 and tier-2 supplier to the automotive industry with sales of EUR 1 bn, to be achieved by a combination of organic growth and acquisitions. Since 2000, the group´s sales have risen from EUR 89m to EUR 265m in 2003, mainly due to acquisitions, and are expected to rise to EUR 300m by 2005. This ambitious concept is supported by the investment group CapVis Equity Partners (CH-8098 Zürich; www.capvis.com). The group´s major customers are car manufacturers such as Volkswagen Group, GM / Fiat, Ford and DaimlerChrysler and manufacturers of commercial vehicles such as Iveco, MB Trucks, Scania and Volvo.

The group´s “High Volume Automotive Division”, which is made up of the acquired injection moulding companies Polytec Rentrop (D-29693 Hodenhagen; www.polytec-rentrop.com), Polytec Thermoplast Riesselmann (D-49381 Lohne; www.polytec-riesselmann.com) and Polytec Automotive (D-49393 Lohne; www.polytec-automotive.com), generated EUR 130m in 2003. This year the expanding group is planning to set up a new facility for the production of Volkswagen components in the east of Germany, with about 150 employees.

The group´s “Low – Medium Volume Automotive” segment with a turnover of EUR 65m is comprised of four companies in Austria, Belgium, Britain and the US with a special focus on technologies such as PU foaming and RIM, spoiler blow moulding and metal moulding. The components produced by this segment are used for lorries, motorbikes and car exteriors. The group´s “Composites” division, with one company in Italy and one in Sweden, posted 2003 sales of EUR 60m. All conventional composite technologies such as SMC, BMC and LFT are applied, mainly for lorry component production but increasingly for car applications. The members of the smallest “Industrial Division” with a turnover of EUR 14m, Polytec Elastoform (A-4641 Marchtrenk; www.polytec-elastoform.com) and Polytec Rotoform (A-4714 Hofkirchen; www.polytec-rotoform.com), are specialising in niche products.
