PolyOne (Avon Lake, Ohio / USA; www.polyone.com) has announced it expects to begin compounding thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) in summer 2018 at its facility in Pune, Maharashtra / India. The company already produces colour and additive concentrates and engineered polymers solutions in Pune. PolyOne president of Specialty Engineered Materials, Craig Nikrant, says, “We are the only global company to offer all of these domestically produced materials in India.”
PolyOne opened its facility in Pune in 2014 – see Plasteurope.com of 22.09.2014 – and initially focused on colourant and additive concentrates manufacturing to serve markets such as transportation, E&E, wire and cable, healthcare and packaging. The company expanded to include speciality engineered compounds in 2016 – see Plasteurope.com of 19.10.2016. With the most recent addition of TPEs, PolyOne says it enables manufacturers to source their speciality polymer requirements from a single domestic source. The company declined to disclose to Plasteurope.com what the annual capacity of TPEs at the site in Pune will be.
