POLYNT
Commercial production of semi-finished carbon fibre products has begun / Plants in Germany and Italy
Composites specialist Polynt (Scanzorosciate, Bergamo / Italy; www.polynt.it) has begun the commercial production of sheet moulding compounds (SMC) and bulk moulding compounds (BMC) reinforced with carbon fibres (see Plasteurope.com of 10.12.2015). The series encompasses the grades “Polynt-SMCarbon”, “Polynt-BMCarbon”, “Polynt-RECarbon” (SMC with recycled CF mats), “Polynt-UDCarbon” (unidirectionally reinforced SMC) and “Polynt-TXTCarbon” (carbon-fibre reinforced SMC).

The Italian group’s subsidiary Polynt Composites Germany will produce all SMC grades at the new plant at Miehlen / Germany, which provides a capacity of 2,000 t/y since the end of 2015. The BMC grade BMCarbon, however, will be produced at the Brembate site in Italy.
