Family business prepares for generational shift

Swedish compounder Polykemi (Ystad; www.polykemi.se) is planning to hand over the reins of the family-run business to the next generation. After 28 years at the head of the company, CEO Ola Hugoson and his deputy Lars Hugosson – both sons of Hugo Jönsson, who founded Polykemi in 1968 – are ceding their positions to their children around the turn of the year 2025/2026.
Oscar Hugoson will take over as CEO of the global Polykemi group, which has production facilities in Sweden, the US (Gastonia, North Carolina), China (Chongqing and Kushan, Jiangsu) along with sales locations in Germany, Denmark, the Czech Republic, and Mexico.

Gustav Hugoson has been tapped as deputy CEO for the Polykemi group, while Herman Hugosson is set to take on the position of CEO of the group’s Swedish business.
Johan Hugoson is remaining in charge as CEO of the US business and Vendela Hugosson is retaining her position as procurement assistant.
The handover of responsibilities was put into motion six years ago, the company said. Once the current CEO and deputy CEO have stepped down from their positions, they plan to continue as senior advisors to Polykemi.
