Fibrenyle plant at Norwich to be closed in August / Plans to concentrate on HDPE
As part of a plan to concentrate on HDPE, Norwegian packaging group Polimoon (N-0125 Oslo; www.polimoon.com) will close the Norwich, UK plant of the British Fibrenyle group (GB-Beccles; www.fibrenyle.co.uk) in August of this year. The Norwegian group acquired Fibrenyle, a manufacturer of blow moulded and injection moulded bottles, canisters and closures for liquid detergents, body care products and beverages, with the October 2003 takeover of Alcan Packaging Services (CH-8212 Neuhausen; www.alcanpackaging.com) – See PIE 23, 2003. Some of the 100 workers at Norwich will be offered jobs at other Polimoon sites. In December 2003, Polimoon closed the Fibrenyle plant at Thetford. The British company, which employs 640 and had sales of around EUR 300m in 2002, has two other plants, at Beccles and Sutton.
