Sabic to expand production of “Stamax P”
Sabic Europetrochemicals (www.sabic-europe.com) has announced plans to increase production capacity for its “Stamax P” to 35,000 t/y. A second production line will be added to the compounding facilities in Genk / Belgium, where this long glass fibre-reinforced composite based on PP is currently being produced. According to the company, construction work has just started and will be completed early 2004. Sabic recently acquired full ownership of Stamax BV by buying out former JV-partner Owens Corning. Main market of Stamax is the automotive industry, where it replaces steel and GMT/SMC.
