ChemChina acquires Australia´s Qenos
The state-owned China National Chemical Corp (ChemChina) is acquiring Australian polyolefins market leader Qenos (www.qenos.com) – a joint venture of Orica (www.orica.com) and ExxonMobil (www.exxonmobil.com) – for an undisclosed sum. The transaction is due to close in spring 2006. Spun off from ICI in 1990, Qenos has capacity to produce 390,000 t/y of PE and 40,000 t/y of PP – the latter is marketed by Basell (www.basell.com).
