Finnish moulder starts up new plant in Estonia / Potential to double output of technical plastics
Finnish contract manufacturer Plastone (Nurmijärvi; www.plastone.fi) has opened a 2,100 m² plant at Saue, 20 km south of Tallinn in Estonia, initially to manufacture technical plastic products for the electrical and electronic and healthcare industries. Along with providing improved geographical reach for Plastone, the new facility will be able to supply a wider range of manufacturing services through more cost-efficient manual assembly work. The company said there is potential to double output from the plant and it is planned to use this to supply other industries in the Baltic region in future.
Currently, 15 people are employed at the Saue factory. These numbers are expected to rise to 25-30 by the end of 2005 and increase to 60 within two years. Altogether, Plastone employs 100 people at three production units in Finland and uses more than 60 injection moulding machines. The company reported turnover of around EUR 8m in 2004.
