PLASTIC FANTASTIC
The real World Cup winnings
— By Plasteurope.com staff —

Just like the real thing, it stands 36 cm tall – but this time as a 2,842-piece ABS self-assembly kit: the latest cash cow in the world of football. Any would-be champions out there will need to kick up 180 euros to win this World Cup trophy, which also features a hidden compartment with a minifigure hoisting the cup in front of a logoed backdrop. That alone is as much as spectators have to fork over for the cheapest, early-round tickets in the US.

Their hourly earnings would quickly add up if Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Vini Jr., and Kylian Mbappé were actually to spend 600+ minutes building the trophy (l. to r.; Photo: Lego)

It’s not just the top prize: the FIFA-Lego collab also ensures that three millionaires and one billionaire get a little richer, with a lineup of individualised sets and minifigures for four of the biggest names in the sport. But as CR7 – the first and so far only billionaire footballer – rightly remarked: “It’s not every day you get to be transformed into a Lego set.”
