PLASTIC FANTASTIC
A fish made to eat plastics
Despite all the plastics in the ocean, people still like the beach, a fact as clear as clean water this summer in Portugal. And while it may seem counterintuitive, one town wants beachgoers to feed their plastics waste to a fish.

This is not any ordinary fish, but a giant one made of metal and metal mesh at the entry/exit point of the strand. The country has a surprising number of bins for waste plastic, but something about that gapping maw of an artificial sea creature makes it just that much more attractive for old bottles and such.

Plus, it’s on the way home or to the nearest beach eatery or drinkery.
