PLASTIC FANTASTIC
Let's sit on recycled plastics, shall we?
Six metres long: the bench in Valencia (Photo: Aimplas)
We’ve written about bricks made from plastics waste, along with clothes and bicycles and car tyres and roads. A company in Spain has now created furniture out of plastics reclaimed from the ocean.

A six-metre-long bench, weighing a whopping 800 kg, can now be found on the marina of Valencia, sitting pretty in shades of blue – which matches perfectly with the source of its raw materials. The Spanish company that created this eye-catching seat says it’s been made 100% from recycled plastics, including 15% fishing nets and other marine litter.

It’s safe to say that it’s only a matter of time before the coolest cafes in town get their hands on “sustainable seating”!
