PLASTIC FANTASTIC
Can those who live in waste-plastic houses throw stones?

As a material, plastics can be rather strong, and there’s no denying that. A US start-up has found a way to harness that strength by using steam and compression to shape all kinds of plastics, even those that are hard to recycle, into building blocks. These sturdy bricks are about 4.5 kg lighter and more durable than the hollow cement blocks traditionally used in construction.

The best part is, these blocks are being made in machines that do not require sorting or cleaning of the polymers and can process up to 450 t/y.

Available in different sizes, these blocks also come with and without the ability to interlock, making them ideal for the building and construction industry. Imagine the next real estate campaign – “One man’s trash is another man’s home!”
