PLASTIC FANTASTIC
Music to your tastebuds

American singer Pharrell Williams is surely “happy” with one of the latest projects from his “i am OTHER, creative collective”: an egg-like container that holds folding plastic-metal cutlery made with recycled material.

Produced in partnership with Germany’s Pentatonic (Berlin; www.pentatonic.com) the “Pebble” personal cutlery kit is said to eliminate the need for single-use utensils. “Just clip on your Pebble, and you’re ready for sustainable eating,” Pentatonic said. “Complete with knife, fork, spoon, chopsticks, and a straw, Pebble equips you to enjoy food truck pad thai, a salad in the park, or an iced coffee at your desk.”

The Pebble’s case is “made from music” using recycled CDs, and the handles of the utensils are from recycled food packaging. The company says the Pebble is designed to last a thousand meals or more and can be added to the local recycling bin. “Or better yet, trade the Pebble back to us so we can repurpose the material and make new things.”
