PLASTIC FANTASTIC
Surfing into the future
Not the first thing that comes to mind with e-mobility (Photo: Covestro)
Surfing is so much more than just a sport. It’s a lifestyle – the tranquility when waiting for that perfect wave. The brief regret after having missed it, followed by a sense of serenity upon realising that there will always be another one, never the same, but waiting to be found. The concept of searching for waves can be transferred onto life. Perhaps this wouldn’t be the worst idea in the fast-paced lives we lead.

Aquila Boards’ new “Onean” electric surfboard, made out of special Covestro polycarbonate blends and featuring a powerful jet drive, may not concur with the purist approach so dear to the surfer community. Still, the e-surfboard could be fun – its top speed of 35 km/h should make for a good ride!
