PLASTIC FANTASTIC
A crucial metal substitute
The latest DC superhero blockbuster is "Aquaman". The medium this time? The common substance water – where Aquaman lives and is destined to be the king of the seven seas. The modern Poseidon has a small problem with his indispensable weapons though. Ferrous metals are going to rust under water and he would be doomed in his final showdown.

The weapons in the movie are based on teeth, bones or other life forms in the seas. The movie props mimic the organic using the appropriate materials – polymers, of course. While there’s no replicator like on the USS Enterprise, there’s always 3D printing.
