PLASTIC FANTASTIC
Let there be light

The problem is not a new one, but the human race does not recycle enough of its plastics. Many are drinking water from plastic bottles, and the oceans are full of waste. After thinking about this problem, Czech artist Veronika Richterová had a moment of enlightenment, literally, and began creating chandeliers from plastic bottles. Her PET designs seem deceptively real. Green plastic is turned into curved candelabra, and blue and orange bottlenecks are formed into playful candlesticks.

At the moment, they are presented at the "Eden Gardens" exhibition in Sydney, but the plastic lights are already hanging in the streets of cities around the world. The artist sees her work in a rather pragmatic way. "Unlike glass, plastic is so beautifully malleable and lightweight,” Richterová says.
