“Fromage au gelatine”: C'est bon, non?
There is no denying that a package has multiple useful functions. In addition to protecting the product inside, it also prolongs its shelf-life and can be an eye catcher drawing consumers in. Of course, it is also a burden on the environment. A number of initiatives have already been launched to address that problem, and range from thinner film to greater use of recyclates. A new approach was recently launched by a Franco-American start-up, whose packaging is made up of an edible gelatine skin, consisting of vegetable particles.

Whether the jello-skin will take root in the country famed for baguette, cheese and wine is another question altogether. But then again, plastic corks have also become “en mode”…
