Plastics Europe (Brussels; www.plasticseurope.org) has named Rob Ingram, CEO of Ineos Olefins & Polymers Europe (London; www.ineos.com), as its new president, effective 1 January 2026. He succeeds Benny Mermans, vice-president of sustainability at Chevron Phillips Chemical, who took over the chair in June 2025.
Ingram will lead the association’s ongoing efforts to accelerate the transition towards circularity and bolster the global competitiveness of Europe’s plastics sector. His appointment follows his role as chair of Plastics Europe’s Transition Roadmap committee, which developed The Plastics Transition – a strategy launched in late 2023 aiming to make 65% of plastics in Europe circular and climate-neutral by 2050.

“Rob will build on the strong foundation of his predecessors,” said Virginia Janssens, managing director of Plastics Europe. “As chair of our Transition Roadmap committee, he worked tirelessly to turn a bold vision into a realistic pathway for our industry.”
Ingram emphasised the importance of collaboration and policy alignment to achieve the industry’s goals amid rising pressure on competitiveness. “We have the vision, expertise, and capability to deliver a circular plastics system, but success will require urgent policy measures to safeguard this strategically vital industry for Europe,” he said.
Ingram brings over 30 years of international experience in the chemicals and plastics sector, having led complex operations before joining Ineos O&P Europe in 2018.
At its general assembly on 17 December 2025, Plastics Europe also elected three vice-presidents – Stephanie Kalil of Dow, Craig Arnold of Borealis, and Lauren Kjelsen of Evonik.
