Dow to close Brindisi MDI plant
Dow Chemical (www.dow.com), Midland, Michigan / USA, has announced plans to close its 75,000 t/y plant for the polyurethane starting material MDI at Brindisi, Italy, after plans to sell the unit to Italian chemical group Chimica D'Agostino failed in December. Some 126 Italian jobs will be lost. No reason was given for the breakdown of negotiations after a letter of intent had been signed in November 2002. Customers will be served from other Dow Polyurethanes locations.
